Our Unique Sewing Technique

At Northrune, every pant is sewn 100% in Minnesota. But getting here wasn’t easy. Without access to industrial machines, with the challenge of sourcing the right fabrics, and figuring out how to construct a pant entirely by hand, we had to invent our own process from the ground up.

Take something as simple as pockets. Most pants have stress points along the outer leg, which can tear or weaken over time. We developed a technique to make the entire pant in a single, smooth sweep using just an overlock stitch — stronger, faster, and more precise. While we can’t reveal every detail, know that every step was learned and refined over a year.

Even the cuffs, which most brands sew as a circle and then attach, are done differently. We attach the elastic directly, then overlock the pant and add two reinforcing stitches for durability. This approach may sound simple, but it took a full year to perfect — and it’s part of why the Northrune Pant is built to last.

Every pair involves over 100 steps, each one carefully considered to remove stress points, increase durability, and allow us to create pants efficiently without compromising quality. It’s not just sewing — it’s a system we invented, refined, and now rely on for every pant we make.
